Uzbekistan doubles down on gold mining efforts

The development program of the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine will be completed this year, two years ahead of schedule, with an increase in gold production by 32%. This was announced at a recent event dedicated to the Day of Mining and Metallurgical Industry Workers.

Last year, the Pistali mine in Nuratinsky district commissioned hydrometallurgical plant No. 6 with a processing capacity of 4 million tons of ore per year. Also, a workshop for the production of modern mills has started working at the Navoi Machine-Building Plant.

In 2024, two new mill blocks with a processing capacity of 2 million tons of ore per year are being built at hydrometallurgical plant No. 3. In the first four months of this year, 27 trillion soums worth of products were produced, exceeding the established plans.

A program for the sustainable development of the combine for 2024-2030 was recently approved, which provides for an increase in production by 37%, the press service of the gold mining enterprise reports.

At the moment, 47,400 people work at the plant. NMMC ranks fourth in the ranking of global gold producing companies. In 2023, NMMC's contribution to the production of industrial products amounted to 13.5%, and the share in revenues to the state budget was 16.7%.
