Uzbekistan introduces 30-day visa-free entry for Indian citizens holding US, UK, Schengen and other visas

Starting from 1 September 2026, citizens of India can stay in Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 30 days. The new rule was established by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s Decree No. UP-180 of 29 August, the Ministry of Justice reported.

The visa-free regime applies to holders of a valid multiple-entry business or tourist visa issued by Australia, the USA, the UK, Canada, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Japan or the Schengen Agreement countries. Travellers must also have an air ticket to India or a third country. The stay of up to 30 days is counted from the date of entry and must fall within the validity period of the foreign visa.

Plans to waive visas for Indian citizens were announced following talks between Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited Tashkent on 29–30 August. During the visit, the sides agreed to raise bilateral trade to $5 billion by 2030, and the two governments signed 12 documents on cooperation in various fields.

Tourist flows from India to Uzbekistan continue to grow: Indian citizens made 45,500 inbound tourist trips in 2023, 70,600 in 2024 and 80,900 in 2025, placing India ninth among all countries. Over 2022–2025, the figure increased almost 1.8 times.

The Tourism Committee intends to further increase the number of visitors from India. According to Committee Chairman Abdulaziz Akkulov, the focus will be on family tourism, while Indian bloggers and tour operators will be engaged to promote the country.
