Uzbekistan plans to import up to 700,000 tonnes of iron ore from Tajikistan annually, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

According to him, over the past 10 years, the country’s demand for flat-rolled products, long steel products, pipes, and metal structures has tripled, reaching 5.5 million tonnes per year.

Mirziyoyev instructed officials to accelerate the formalization of an agreement with the Tajik Metallurgical Plant on annual supplies of iron ore.

The development of the «Tebinbulak» deposit will become a strategic project, enabling the production of up to 1 million tonnes of steel annually.
