UIMF 2022: KEY ISSUES AND PROSPECTS OF MINING AND METALLURGICAL SECTOR DEVELOPMENT


Mining and metallurgy are the core industries of any economy, as their products make an integral basis of all industrial production. The same as other spheres of the modern economy, the mining and metallurgy industry in Uzbekistan are undergoing a transformation at the current stage in technical, technological, innovative and legal aspects. The legislative framework regulating activities in these areas are being adopted, new equipment and innovative technologies are implemented, such as the use of drones in search and exploration of minerals, etc.

Discussion of these and many other issues is included in the program of the Uzbekistan International Mining & Metals Forum - UIMF 2022, which will be held under support of the State Committee of Uzbekistan for Geology and Mineral Resources on November 2-3, 2022 in the Congress Hall of Uzexpocentre as part of the 16th International Exhibition for Mining, Metallurgy and Metalworking - MiningMetals Uzbekistan 2022.

For the fourth time the Forum has brought together many leading companies from the industry, experts and representatives of relevant state agencies. Such a composition of participants will generate discussions of the key issues and prospects on the mining and metallurgical sector development at the background of modern realities to identify ways to addressing the existing and future challenges.

This year's theme is: Modern Trends in Development of Geological, Mining and Metallurgical Industries.
The Forum’s program includes discussions of the current trends in development of the geological, mining and metallurgical industries, prospects for exploration and development of new deposits, ESG-agenda in the mining and metallurgical industry, digital development, and more.
Two sessions that will be presented at the Forum for the first time are the distinctive feature of UIMF 2022:
  • Special session with participation of NMMC representatives: Large-scale modernization, transformation and new challenges
  • Special memorial session dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Academician Khabib Abdullayev: Role of Khabib Abdullayev in development of geological science
46 speakers and moderators as well as over 200 delegates from 11 countries have confirmed their participation in the Forum, including: Australia, Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Canada, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, France, and Uzbekistan.

The special importance to the Forum is given by the participation of relevant line ministries and departments of Uzbekistan and the flagships of the industry, such as Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex (AMMC) and Navoi mining and metallurgical complex (NMMC). The Forum participants will get familiar with the latest developments and achievements of domestic miners and metallurgists, and find the ways to establish new partnerships.
