UIMF 2023 CELEBRATES ITS 5th ANNIVERSARY


The mining and metallurgical industry takes the leading position in the economy of Uzbekistan and is experiencing a period of dynamic transformations. Today, the strategic goals of the industry include the follows: implementation of advanced technologies for exploration of new deposits in order to ensure an increment in reserves; creation of a favourable environment for promoting investments; development of ferrous, radioactive and rare earth metallurgy, as well as structural transformations of enterprises to enhance their performance indicators.

UIMF 2023, the Uzbekistan International Mining & Metals Forum - will be an effective business platform for discussing paths for achieving these goals. The Forum will be traditionally held under support of the Ministry of Mining industry and Geology of Uzbekistan, on November 1-2, 2023 at the International Hotel Tashkent and will become the key business event of the 17th MiningMetals Uzbekistan 2023 International Exhibition for Mining, Metallurgy and Metalworking.

This year UIMF celebrates its 5th anniversary. Over the years, as many as 1,070 delegates and 120 speakers from 18 countries took part in it. The Forum has greatly contributed to development of mining industry. Annually, it brings together all key experts to exchange experiences, discuss current issues and promising areas of cooperation.
More than 40 speakers, and over 200 delegates from 14 countries have confirmed their participation in the anniversary Forum, including: Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Kazakhstan, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkiye, UAE, the USA, Uzbekistan.

This year's theme is: PROSPECTS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL, REGIONAL AND DOMESTIC MINING AND METALLURGICAL SECTOR. NEW CHALLENGES - NEW STRATEGIES.

The Forum’s programme includes discussion of such important issues as prospects for development of the mining and metallurgical sector, both in Uzbekistan and at the international level; new challenges facing the industry and strategies to address them, issues of the national mining industry transformation, technological innovations, experience in developing various types of deposits and much more.

The influential experts and top industry managers are among the speakers of the Forum: Nicolas Flotte, (Orano Mining), Jane Joughin (SRK Consulting), David Pierce (SRK Consulting), Ross Milne (Dassault Systèmes), Victor Kovalenko (EY), Alexander Likhopud (SGS), Evgeniy Antonov (Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Plant JSC), Andrey Popov (Eastern Drilling Company), Evgeniy Degtyarenko (Urantsvetmet), and Gerard Fries (Navoiyuran).

Traditionally, there will be a technical session on Smart Mining arranged and a session on exploration, which are in great demand every year and attract the greatest interest of the audience.

For the first time, a session on radioactive metallurgy will be held, where geotechnologies for uranium deposits will be discussed, including the most important aspects of the industry’s raw material supply, as well as the market transformations to ensure investment attractiveness.

The role of leading enterprises in increasing the mineral resource base of Uzbekistan will be considered during the sessions organised by the flagships of the mining and metallurgical industry - Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex and Navoi Gold Mining Company. This year, for the first time, Navoi GMC performs as the General Partner.
Also, within the framework of the session of the Navoi GMC, the important role and role of women in the metallurgical industry will be considered. Currently, women are actively involved in the process and occupy a worthy place in this industry.

Over the course of two days, the Forum participants will get familiar with the latest developments and achievements of domestic miners and metallurgists, and find opportunities to establish partnerships.
