UIMF 2024 opens doors to co-operation and innovation


In today's world, the development of the mining industry cannot be imagined without regional and international co-operation for sustainable development. Advanced technologies and engineering solutions for prospecting, exploration and development of deposits, as well as further efficient processing of mineral raw materials serve as stimulating trends in the development of the industry, make it possible to increase the efficiency and quality of production processes and reduce the cost of the end product.

The 6th Uzbekistan International Mining & Metals Forum - UIMF 2024 is an annual major business event of the mining industry, which is a solid platform for discussing and modelling the future landscape of mining and metallurgy. The Forum will be held on 22-23 October 2024 in the Congress Hall of the NEC Uzexpocentre within the framework of the 18th International Exhibition MiningMetals Uzbekistan 2024.

This year's theme is Regional and International Mining and Industrial Cooperation: Important Steps and Trajectories of Progress.

The programme of the 6th Uzbekistan International Mining & Metals Forum - UIMF 2024 will be packed with in-demand and progressive topics, professional discussions and important business meetings. The main topics include: principles of international and regional co-operation, critical resources agenda, digital solutions in the mining industry, geo-technologies for prospecting, exploration and development, ESG agenda reset, safety in mining and metallurgical enterprises, conservation technologies, as well as special panel sessions of production locomotives - Almalyk MMC and Navoi MMC.

The Forum will be traditionally held with the support of the Ministry of Mining industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

50 speakers, moderators and more than 250 delegates from 15 countries have confirmed their participation in the Forum: Australia, Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden, and Uzbekistan.

For the first time such companies and international organisations will be represented on the margins of the forum, as: International Women in Mining (IWiM), World Bank, Eurasian Development Bank, Director of Trade and Investment at the British Embassy, Administration of the Republic of Karelia, International Geoscience Services, JOGMEC, Montfort Eurasia, AVEVA, B1 Group, GEOVIA, Marubeni, First Quantum Minerals, Glencore, Telko, and others.

Such speakers as leading international experts, top managers of companies and representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the Republic and foreign countries could be among the speakers at the Forum: Bobir Islamov - Minister of Mines and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Abdukadirov - First Deputy Director, Strategic Reform Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laurie Muirhead - Director for Trade and Investment, British Embassy in Uzbekistan, Remi Pelon - Senior Mining Specialist, World Bank, Artur Parfenchik, and others.

The first day of UIMF 2024 will present key sessions, each focussing on critical aspects of the industry.

The forum will kick off with a Plenary Session that will address national and regional principles of industrial co-operation. Participants will discuss priorities in improving co-operation and exports in Uzbekistan's mining sector, as well as regional and state measures to accelerate the development of the industry.

An expert session on "Critical Minerals" will raise the topics of energy transition and the role of critical resources in this process. Special attention will be paid to Uzbekistan's potential, international experience and risk management.

The role of women in the mining industry will receive particular emphasis, with a separate session devoted to this topic. The afternoon session will include a discussion on "Women in Mining", in which women leaders will discuss women's contribution to the industry, initiatives to improve gender equality and its impact on company productivity.

The final sessions of the first day will focus on cutting-edge technologies in the mining industry. “The Smart Mining Technology” session will discuss state-of-the-art solutions in automation, robotisation and energy saving. At the last panel, experts will focus on the digitalisation of enterprises and how it contributes to business sustainability and efficiency.

The second day of the UIMF 2024 forum will begin with a technological session of MMC leaders "Priority Trajectories for Sustainable Development", where localisation of production, digitalisation of enterprises, scientific innovations and long-term investment projects will be discussed. Speakers include experts from Navoi and Almalyk MMCs, as well as representatives of Terralink and GEOVIA.

Following will be an ESG session on safety at work, integration of social risks and human resources programmes. This will be followed by a technology session on geo-information technologies and water management in mining, with participation of specialists from Navoiuran, Navoi MMC, the World Bank and other companies.

UIMF 2024 will provide unique opportunities to establish long-term partnerships, discuss the latest technologies and development strategies that will influence the future of the mining and metals industry in Uzbekistan.
