AGMK to launch first stage of new copper processing plant in July 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant (AGMK) intends to commission the first line of the third copper processing plant as early as July 2025.This is envisaged by the draft state program for 2025, which was published for public discussion.
According to the document, all construction and installation work on the creation of a cyclic-flow technology system with a transport capacity of 65 million tons of ore is planned to be completed by May 2025.
In June, the delivery, installation and assembly of key process equipment necessary for the launch of the new plant will be completed.
The first stage of the third copper processing plant will be commissioned in July 2025. The plant will process up to 60 million tons of ore per year.
Due to this, the capacity of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant for ore processing will increase from the current 40 million to 100 million tons.
The project is financed by AGMK's own funds and loans from foreign banks. The total cost of the large-scale mine modernization program is estimated at $4.8 billion. Completion of all work is planned by 2026.
