Uzbekistan will become a member of the new BRICS development bank
The Council of Management of the New Development Bank agreed to join Uzbekistan to the countries participating in the bank. The program of joint projects for $ 5 billion includes the modernization of irrigation systems and the development of the mining industry.
On June 9, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, adopted the president of the new development bank of BRICS Dilm Rusef, who arrived to participate in the Tashkent International Investment Forum, the press service of the head of state said.
The issues of developing practical cooperation with this financial institution were discussed. The implementation of the agreements reached on the fields of the BRICS summit in October last year was noted.
“So, the Board of Management Bank is given a fundamental consent to the accession of Uzbekistan to the countries participating in the new development bank. A program of priority joint projects in the amount of $ 5 billion has been formed, ”the report said.
The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of speedy preparation and implementation of projects in priority areas: modernization of irrigation systems, development of the mining industry, financing of the private sector, promoting projects of public-private partnership in the fields of education and infrastructure.
Support for the implementation of large regional infrastructure projects is also expressed.
